Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to economic empowerment and poverty reduction through digital innovation and ICT development.
Speaking at the official flag-off ceremony for the distribution of ICT gadgets to 7,000 beneficiaries under the NG-CARES program, Mohammed emphasized the importance of technology in enhancing livelihoods and creating economic opportunities.
He, however, highlighted digital empowerment as a key driver of sustainable development, enabling youths and small business owners to actively participate in the digital economy.
By equipping citizens with essential digital tools, Mohammed has said, his administration aims to foster entrepreneurship, innovation, and job creation across Bauchi State.
While stressing that poverty is not just an economic challenge but a broader social and health issue that requires a multi-faceted approach, Mohammed reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and policies that improve the well-being of all residents.
Speaking on behalf of the National Coordinator of NG-CARES, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. Atiku Musa, described the initiative as a crucial step towards digital inclusion. He noted that providing citizens with the necessary ICT tools and skills aligns with the program’s mission to empower communities in today’s technology-driven world.
One of the beneficiaries, Shafiu Muhammad, expressed appreciation to the Bauchi State Government, the Ministry of SMEs, and the World Bank for their support.
He pledged to utilize the gadgets effectively to enhance his digital skills and economic prospects.
