In a strong show of support, the immediate past chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas in Rivers State visited Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara at his private residence in Port Harcourt on Wednesday. The visit was aimed at expressing their unwavering loyalty and commitment to the Governor’s leadership, particularly to his Rivers First agenda.
Led by Hon Prince Ezebunwo Ichemati, former chairman of the Association of Local Government Chairmen in Nigeria (ALGON), Rivers State Chapter, and former Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Council, the chairmen reaffirmed their steadfast support for Governor Fubara’s mandate.
During the visit, the chairmen, who were in high spirits, emphasized the importance of unity in the face of the political challenges currently confronting the state. They pledged their continued dedication to the Governor’s cause and encouraged the people of Rivers to rally behind him as he navigates through this critical period in the state’s political history.
The group also took time to offer prayers for divine protection and guidance, asking God to defend and strengthen the Governor during these trying times. They called on the people of Rivers State to remain united and law-abiding, warning against divisive forces that seek to undermine the state’s progress.
“The unity of Rivers people is crucial at this moment,” the chairmen stated, urging all to stand firm and not allow the enemies of the state to advance their agenda.
The solidarity visit underscores the deep bond between the Governor and the Local Government Chairmen, as well as their collective resolve to ensure the success of the Rivers First initiative.
