Anambra Police Authorize Burial of Children Stored in Fridge in Nnewi, As Investigations Continue

The Anambra State Police Command has granted permission to the bereaved family of the three children found lifeless in a fridge in Nnewi to proceed with their burial, even as investigations into the tragic incident continue.

The approval was given by the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, who acknowledged the deep grief of the family and assured them of sustained investigation on the matter and swift police action when developments arise from the ongoing investigation.

According to a statement issued to newsmen on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga; CP Orutugu reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to unraveling the circumstances surrounding the heartbreaking incident, emphasizing that law enforcement is diligently working to ensure that justice is served.

He assured that while the burial has been authorized to help the family find closure, the police are still awaiting the results of medical findings, which are critical to concluding their investigations.

The Police Command also urged the members of the public, particularly Ndi Anambra, to remain patient as law enforcement continues its thorough inquiry into the matter. The CP further called on the community to maintain cooperation with the authorities, stressing that every necessary step will be taken to ensure that the truth is uncovered and the perpetrator(s) brought to book.
