A non sectional political group under the aegis of the Anambra Equity Movement (A.N.E.M), has unveiled an innovative and unique game-changing initiative to mobilize voters in Anambra State to support a candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC), the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party or any other political party other than the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election in the state.

This clarion call according to, Hon Tony Uche Ezekwelu -the convener of the group/meeting, was aimed at fostering equity, balance, fairness and brotherly love.

In his opening address, Ezekwelu said that they were mobilizing for a capable candidate especially from the APC to enable Anambra State have a taste of a new political party, having been experienced the governance model of the PDP and APGA respectively since the return of democracy in 1999.

He thetefore urged the APC to zone its governorship ticket to Anambra South senatorial zone.
And further micro-zone it to the old Nnewi Division compromising the Nnewi South, Nnewi North and Ekwusigo Local Government Areas of the State.

The Convener who was flanked by key figures in the group including a former Orumba South Council chairman, Chief Nestor Okoro addressed journalists at the end of their meeting. While listing out the key points of their resolutions observed that since the inception of democracy in Nigeria, the old Nnewi Division area has never tasted the Anambra governor position.

The movement, the Convener/chairman disclosed was a coalition of socio-political and religious pressure groups, civil societies and non-governmental organisations that believe and committed to bringing justice, equity and fairness in the distribution of elective and appointive political offices in Anambra State and the nation generally. They canvassed for what they referred to as “a practical politician”, not imported elements who were usually foisted on the State after the job was done. He admitted that such governors, as seen from the incumbent and his predecessor will continue to wobble till the tenure run out.

“Imagine being asked to go to the internet to apply for jobs, appointments or contract.

“Has that now made any positive difference at all?

The resolutions read in part, “…This will ensure that all facets and classes of Anambrans are given sense of belonging irrespective of geographical origin, religious belief/creed, profession/class, gender, education and other classifications,

“The group is poised to assiduously employ every effective means of mobilization and enlightenment to achieve our set goals making Anambra truly the light of the Nation.

“The movement resolved that the Anambra Governorship by geopolitical should remain in South Senatorial Zone for the next four years. In South Senatorial Zone should be zoned to Old Nnewi Division made up of Nnewi North, South and Ekwusigo LGAs; whereby Aguata/OAU have got over Six , 6 years of Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife and Prof. Charles Soludo and Ihiala held Governorship for Four, 4 years under late Dr.Chinwoke Mbadinuju; both divisions having held power for over ten, 10 years to the exclusion of Old Nnewi Division in Anambra South.

“That Catholic Christians having dominated governoship power for 23 uninterrupted years, it is just equitable and fair that next governor should be zoned to Non-Catholics especially Anglican/PFN among other CAN blocks.

“Also the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA having ruled for 20 years, PDP for seven (7) years, Anambra should try another political party and the best option for next the governorship by all considerations, All Progressives Congress, APC which is the ruling Party at the center or any other viable Party with strong Non Catholic candidate.

*Our Structure under the able leadership of Ezekwelu, as the Convener/Chairman of the movement with Comrade Engr Anthony Aniebuo as General Secretary together with the Central Working Committee, LG EXCOS, Ward Excos are fully in place advocating and mobilizing massively towards achieving our set goals.

“We resolved to leave no stone unturned in achieving our set goal. Our adopted candidate who meets all these set criteria should personally assure the members and all Ndi Anambra that they will be fully supported and carried along before, during and after the guber primaries and election proper and in government. The candidate must sign a pact/take a vow that he won’t discriminate against any denominations, groups or individuals when he gets to the governorship power come November 8, 2025

“All this is to save the state from potential political cum electoral violence that can emanate from obvious frustrations from sustained political domination and intimidation…”, he added
