The Press Secretary to the Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Mr. Christian Aburime, has described as mere rumour, the trending media reports alleging that the State’s Commissioner for Homeland Security, Mr. Chikodi Anara, has been sacked by the Governor.

The refutal is coming amidst the speculations and the publications that saturated the media space on Wednesday claiming that Commissioner Anara was sacked by the Governor over what they described as the growing insecurity in the state under his watch as the Commissioner for Homeland Security, which the sources claimed resulted in the recent appointment of Chief Ken Emeakayi as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security and the creation of the Operation Udo Ga-Achi.

Another version of the story also alleged that the Commissioner resigned by himself at the last State Executive Council on the order of the Governor who honourably told him to do so because of incompetency and the redundancy of his office.

However, when this reporter Izunna Okafor, contacted him, the Press Secretary to Governor Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime, dismissed the reports and speculations as mere rumour.

According to him, nothing like that has happened, to the best of his knowledge.

“All those things you’re seeing on the social media are in the realms of rumour. They are mere rumour, as nothing like that has happened, to the best of my knowledge,” he stated.

Efforts by this reporter to contact Commissioner Anara for his own side of the story proved abortive, as he was yet to respond to his call as at the time of filing this report.

The reporter also made attempts to contact the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, for further clarifications, which also proved abortive as he declined the calls and was yet to call back as at the time of this publication.
