Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, the apex socio-cultural organization of youths in Orlu zone has condemned in very strong terms, what they referred to as the incessant threats to the lives and properties of the people who have in recent times become victims of all kinds dehumanizing events and circumstances, including bombings, harassment, intimidation, unlawful arrests, detention and extortion different guises by security operatives.
Speaking through the National President, Comrade Thaddeus Emejuru, the group expressed dismay that communities in Orlu that used to be serene and peaceful have suddenly become theatres of the absurd from where sad, sordid and disheartening stories now emanate.
They expressed regret over the increasing level of insecurity in the area which according to them, has taken a frightening dimension, as bombs are now detonated in markets at the expense of the lives of citizens and residents of the area.
The group called on Governor Hope, as the Chief Security Officer to rise up to the challenge in line with the oath he swore on assumption of office pointing out that the sad news that emanating from the area is an ill-wind that blows no one good, as projecting Orlu zone and her people in very bad light.
They used the opportunity to advise the people, especially youths of the area to shun crime and all forms of anti-social behavior and practices, while also sympathizing with all those who lost their relatives, friends, associates and loved ones in the fatal accident that occurred at Njaba on that same Tuesday. He prayed that God grants them the fortitude to bear their respective losses.
Concluding OYA said, “we would not like a situation where the recent acts of terrorism Orlu people will be swept under the carpet like previous cases. We expect that the current development should be investigate thoroughly”.
