A fraudulent plot to sell the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Council have been traced to one Rev Godson Nlemchukwu, an Engineer who is currently serving under the Anglican Diocese of Ohaji/Egbema, presided over by His Lordship Bishop Collins Oparajiaku.
The revelation came barley few days after the said Anglican priest mobilized some hoodlums with whom he invaded the Imo NUJ Secretariat located along Port Harcourt Road, Owerr, the state capital claiming to have secured a judgment Order from a Magistrate Court to eject all occupants of the Secretariat. They were however resisted by members of the union who did not know that the arrowhead of the fraudulent plot to sell the union’s secretariat is an Anglican priest.
However, prior to this time, Imo NUJ had accused former Governor Rochas Okorocha attempting to convert the secretariat to a hotel through a proxy and was not aware that the said proxy is an Anglican priest, until recently.
The matter has been in court because the Anglican priest, Rev Godson Nlemchukwu, deceived the Court that he was in possession of the valid title documents of the property, whereas the company, Enedo General Services he was fronting does not have any document in respect of the property. Besides, the company, has uptil date not been able to show Imo NUJ proof of the money it claimed to have paid in respect of the property.
It is also on record that at the time the priest and Enedo General Services claimed to have bought the property, the union was in court over leadership tussle and has been at the National Industrial Court, Owerri Division, up tiil date and would not have genuinely gone into such agreement.
It was also gathered that Enedo General Services and the Anglican Priest who fronted it as a proxy have been bragging that they have the capacity to comprise the court and swing the pendulum of justice in their favour, no matter whose ox is gored.
