A traditional medical practitioner and Supreme Leader of Traditional Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Native Dr. Chukwuma Ezeoruonye has risen in defense of his fellow traditionalists, saying that any genuine traditionalist knows the negative implications of associating with crime related issues.
He contended that while the so-called Christians hide under the projected mercy of Christ to perpetrate all manners of evils, genuine traditionalists know that once they aid, abate or perpetrate any criminal or evil act, the gods of our ancestors would punish them instantly without any atumn of mercy.
Ezeoruonye who spoke at this year’s 2024 Igba Oruru Eke Annual cultural festival hosted by the Chief Priest of Oruru Eke Ancient Deity, Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state, contended that apart from distancing ourselves from crime related issues, traditional practice is also part of retaining the cultural values of our ancestors.
According to Ezeoruonye who is also the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Debigrich Group Limited, Import/Export/Agricultural firm, “during the time of our forefathers, they did not engage in crime related iissues like armed robbery, kidnappings, cultism, rituals, murder, 419, among others and that was why they lived a happy long life but since the white missionaries imposed their Christian religion on us, we have never known peace. again”.
Ezeoruonye who is also an executive member of Delta State Tradituonal Medicine Board, declared’: “in those good old days, our forefathers lived a clean life devoid of greed, envy and malice, using our traditional practice as their bedrock but today, the reverse is the case as we have now sunk into the borrowed Christian religion and are feeling the pains”.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not be bad as a person but he might be acting under the influence of Christian religion which the missionaries used to brainwash our people since they stepped their toes into the land of Africa and if we don’t go back to our African tradition, we will remain under the spell of Christian religion and the economic hardship, security problems and leadership crisis will continue to worsen even from one Nigeria’s President to another, just as we witnessed from Goidluck Jonathan era to the present Tinubu era”.
Ezeoruonye therefore urged Nigerians to go back to their root and embrace their traditional practice as the only way to change the narrative in terms of repositioning the country’s economy and at the same time resucuing our youths from the the clutches of Christian religion spell as according to him, two of my brothers are Catholic priests but I was practicing Christian religion until I had a call to practice traditional religion, I embraced it and I am now a comfortable oetson.
Earlier, the Chief Host, Dr. Ezemete, listed the Law of Karma, Ikenga, Chionyeuwa, God of Healing and God of Justice as some of the deities that are incharge of the traditional practices which play protective roles to humanity right from the ages.
Dignitaries in attendance at the Igba Oruru Eke festival which took place insude Osoenigwe Square, Ezinano Umuowelle Village, Ekwulobia included Prince Chigbo Enendu (Akwa Udene Nnobi), Chidiebere Ezeafulukwe from Aguluezechwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state and Okunegbajiagu of Nawfija in Orumba South Local Government Area also of Anambra state who also urged Igbo youths to go back to the cultural practices bequeted to them by their ancestors.
