The Chief Medical Director, Bauchi Specialist Hospital, Prof. Abdulkarim Garba, on Thursday, said the state government has increased the hospital’s diesel allocation from 8,000 litres to 16,000 litres monthly for improved medical service delivery.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi, Garba said that the intervention had enabled the hospital sustain power supply to all departments, theaterrooms and laboratories using its four Caterpillar generators.
The CMD said that the 360 bedded facility now runs medical services smoothly.
Commenting on the recent power outage experienced in some northern states of the country, Garba said that the quantity of diesel supplied to the facility aided the smooth operations of services.
“With the power outage experienced, we had no challenges with power supply, courtesy of his Excellency, Gov. Bala Mohammed’s earlier intervention.
“The governor graciously approved a review of our diesel allocation from 8,000 litres to 16,000 litres which kept the facility on without power disruption.
“We have four caterpillar generators which we use at various times to maintain electricity unlike when the hospital was operating on small generators for departmental services in case of power outage,” Garba said.
The CMD said that all the generators are switched off for two hours between 6.00a.m., and 8.00a.m., daiy to enable them rest.
