149 Suspects Arrested By NDLEA

A total of 149 suspects have been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Ebonyi state.

This was contained in a ‘Quarterly Progress Report’ of the command, between July to September, and made available by the state Commander, Peter Ogah.

The suspects comprising of 112 males and 37 females within the age range of 16 to 75 years were arrested by the agency, while various substances of abuse weighing 115.226kilogrameswere seized by the agency as Drug Exhibit.

The exhibits include; Cannabis sativa, methamphetamine, Tramadol, Crack Cocaine, Amphetamine, Codeine syrup, Monkey Tail among others.

Commander Ogah while speaking on Drug Demand Reduction, said three(3) clients were admitted and are currently undergoing rehabilitation, while a total of eighty two(82) suspects; sixty four(64) males and eighteen(18) females were referred to the unit within the age bracket of 16 to 72years and were duly counselled.

He further explained that the agency will continue in it’s effort towards sensitising the public on the dangers of drug abuse, adding that they visited various Local Government Areas in Ebonyi state during the 2024 Women August meeting, NYSC corp members and officials, schools and churches, and a huge turnout was recorded at the sensitisation program.
