The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has vehemently opposed the proposed Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) skills acquisition camp in Imo State, describing it as a sinister plot by the Nigerian government and Fulani people to dispossess the Igbo of their ancestral land.
In a strongly-worded press release, signed by Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB’s Directorate of State condemned the project, citing the federal government’s alleged ulterior motives.
“This smokescreen project is part of an elaborate ominous plan by the Fulani and the Nigerian Government to dispossess us of our ancestral land and heritage,” the statement read.
IPOB expressed concerns that the camp would serve as a conduit for importing Boko Haram terrorists and other criminals from Northern Nigeria into Imo State and alaIgbo in general.
The group criticized Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma for allegedly colluding with the federal government to settle Fulanis in the region.
“Hope Uzodinma is colluding with the federal government of Nigeria in bringing Northern terrorists and their sympathizers as displaced persons into Alaigbo to be slaughtered for political expediency,” IPOB alleged.
The statement emphasized that IPOB would resist any attempts to infiltrate Alaigbo with terrorists.
“We are ten steps ahead of this murderous Nigerian government and its agenda,” IPOB declared.
The group demanded the immediate termination of the project and suggested converting the proposed IDP camp into a secondary school or skills acquisition center for Imo State youths.
IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, signed the release.
The statement reads in part
“The attention of the Directorate of State (DOS) of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been drawn to the sinister Federal Government project called Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Skills acquisition camp at Nzu Community Ehime Mbano LGA, Amafor Community Ohaji Egbema LGA, Agbala Community in Owerri North of Imo State. This smokescreen project is part of an elaborate ominous plan by the Fulani and the Nigerian Government to dispossess us of our ancestral land and heritage and it will not work. They have tried all forms of land grabbing technics with different names such as RUGA, and these all failed. Now they want to import so called displaced persons from the Northern Nigerian a distance of thousands of kilometres away from their locality and homeland into Imo State in Biafraland. These evil people never set up Skills acquisition programs for the millions of jobless youths in our land but have the evil mind to even consider bringing in Boko Haram foot soldiers into Biafraland in the name of skills acquisition for internally displaced persons.
“The Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra want to inform the Fulani and the Nigerian government together with their stooge and murderer of our people Hope Uzodinma that we are aware of the real intention of this so called IDP rehabilitation centre in Imo State. The hatred that this man Hope Uzodinma has for our people can only be compared to what Ukpabi Asika did immediately after the war when he laid the foundation for the economic divestment of the whole of Eastern Region. This man Hope Uzodinma does not have any job creating program in Imo State set up by himself or brought in by the Nigerian government but he wants to rub it in our faces by telling us he wants to teach skills to Boko Haram in our land.
“The systematic arrangement to bring in Fulani children into Alaigbo involving United Nations is a covert project aimed at Ndigbo, IPOB, and Biafrans in general and Biafrans will not allow such wicked infiltration act to go on in Alaigbo. United Nations is fully aware of the persecution, subjugation, and intimidation Ndigbo are facing in the hands of the rest of Nigeria and their government. UN knows that Nigeria has not established or encouraged any infrastructural or industrial development in Alaigbo except prisons and military installations. There is no Federal Government presence in the Biafra territory so we can not allow this IDP training camp for train Fulani repented Boko Haram terrorists to stand in our territory especially the one proposed in Ehime Mbano LGA, Ohaji Egbema LGA and Owerri North in Imo State. The United Nations never established any project in Igbo land, but now they agree to bring an IDP camp to in Imo State. We are making it precisely clear that it will not be accepted nor will it work.
“Ndigbo do not have internally displaced persons. Those Igbos that Nigerian murderous Army displaced when they burnt their houses are accommodated by their relatives and neighbors in our towns and villages. In the entire breath and length of Biafran Land, we don’t have homeless people to be accommodated in any IDP camp. Therefore, the federal government plan to export terrorists, their families, and their informants into the South East Region to infiltrate Ndigbo will be resisted. The dubiosity of the Nigeria Government to populate the East with terrorists and bandits is an agenda that every Igbo person must resist or we will have home-grown terrorists to deal with in the future. It is another way of settling Fulanis in our region, but it won’t work. We are ten steps ahead of this murderous Nigerian government and its agenda.
“The Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra wish to let the Nigerian government and the Imo State Governor, the hater of Ndigbo to stop this demonic IDP project at Ehime Mbano LGA, Owerri North and Ohaji Egbema LGA’s of Imo State because it will never stand. IPOB will never allow the Nigerian government and their stooge supreme court governor in Imo State to import terrorists and bandits in the name of displaced persons to Alaigbo. Those Northern displaced persons should be accommodated in the North because they have large expanse of lands and must not be exported to Alaigbo.
“The question that demand answers are, why is the federal government not extending railway projects into Igboland? Why are their no international airports, seaports, and other federal funded projects to the South East? They instead chose to locate an IDP camp that will house Northerners in the South East Region? This evil covert project of the Nigerian Government in connivance with Northern terrorists is to commit mass murder of innocent Northern children in this IDP camp and then turn around as always to point accusing fingers at IPOB in other to blackmail our genuine cause for the Liberation of our land and people and turn International outrage against the Biafra struggle.
“It is imperative that we raise this alarm ahead of this project to avoid this evil agenda from happening and for the sake of history. The International Community should compel the Nigeria government to desist from this project because IPOB has already exposed their agenda. We are warning the Imo State vampire Governor, Hope Uzodinma, to stop being a stooge for the federal Fulani government of Nigeria against the safety and interest of Ndigbo. Hope Uzodinma is colluding with the federal government of Nigeria in bringing the Northern terrorists and their sympathizers as displaced persons into Alaigbo to be slaughtered for political expediency to stop IPOB’s agitation. In the same way, he invited Alhaji Ahmed Gulak to Imo State in 2021 and murdered him in cold blood on May 30 of the same year and blaimed it on IPOB and later on others. The idea of infiltrating Alaigbo and altering the demography of Ndigbo using RUGA failed, and their establishment of livestock ranches agenda failed, and now the Nigerian government has continued skimming with their evil agenda against Igbo people, (Ndigbo).
“Hope Uzodinma must know that IPOB does not forget and he should be rest assured that at the appropriate time and place, he will definitely be called to account.
“As much as IPOB understands and sympathizes with the genuine Nigerians displaced population by the soulless State sponsored terrorists and bandits all over Nigeria, we will not allow any Federal Government sponsored IDP camp in Biafran Land. This press release should be a warning to Ehime Mbano LGA chairman, Ohaji Egbema LGA chairman, Owerri North chairman, Hope Uzodinma, the Government of Bola Tinubu and all the sponsors on this state terrorism project called IDP center in Imo State to desist from such project. The building should be converted into a secondary school or skills acquisition center for Imo State youths, or the structure should be pulled down immediately. IPOB and Ndigbo globally reject importation of terrorists, bandits, and their accomplices in the name of IDP center in Imo State. IPOB will stop at nothing to ensure that the natural demography, safety, and security of Biafrans are not compromised using this state sponsored covert project in the name of IDP camp Skills acquisition center. Take the IDP camp or center to the North where it is needed. Ndigbo does not have internally displaced persons clamoring for resettlement. We take care of our own.”
