Protect the Weak Foundation, (PROWIF) a non governmental organization that is committed to ensuring justice, fairness and equity in governance, has called on the police to as a matter of urgency, arrest and prosecute the policemen who killed a young man named Obinna at a checkpoint along Agbala, Owerri North LGA, along Owerri- Aba Road recently.
PROWIF, in a statement issued by its President, Mazi Chinonso Uba, popularly called Nonso Nkwa, expressed concern about how policemen on road block stopped the deceased who was accompanying a friend to his building site probably, to see how work is going.
According to PROWIF, late Obinna’s friend who survived the shooting incident that snuffed life out of his friend, said, “when a police officer flagged them down, they stopped. But after a while another police officer on duty signaled them to move. As soon as they moved their vehicle a bit, they police men opened fire on them and in the process a bullet hit his friend, who later gave up.
“Protect The Weak International Foundation PROWIF demands a comprehensive arrest of all police officers on road block along that route on that particular day and thorough investigation be conducted and the culprit fished out and prosecuted according to the full weight of the law.
We might be forced to take legal actions against the Nigeria Police if after seven days, the culprit is yet to be fished out!
This is not manslaughter but murder.
