Paramount ruler of the Tiv Nation and President of Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse, has appealed to those planning national protests from 1st August 2024 to suspend their plans and allow seamless implementation of measures to address the discontent in the land.
The Tor Tiv said if the protest is shelved, it will allow the Government time to meet the demands of the planners.
In a statement signed by his Media Assistant, Freddie Adamgbe, the Tor Tiv expressed belief that by suspending the peaceful national protest, it may deny the enemies of the country the opportunity to possibly hijack the protest to achieve their sinister goals.
The Tor Tiv acknowledged the suffering in the land, appreciated and identified with the feelings of the people at a time like this, and appealed to people in his domain, Benue State and the general public to exercise patience and give the Federal Government some more time to address the hunger, general high cost of living and insecurity in the land.
