Nwifuru Approves 2Billion As Scholarship Fund For 597 Candidates

Ebonyi state government under Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru has approved over Two Billion naira for 597 candidates offered scholarship into the Nigerian Universities.

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Jude Okpor, Tuesday, disclosed this to newsmen at a press briefing in Abakaliki.

Hon. Okpor said that the fund covers school fees, research funding and living expenses of the scholarship beneficiaries.

“Following Council’s approval of the list of 597 successful candidates to study in Nigerian universities as submitted by the State Scholarship Board, over Two Billion Naira was approved by EXCO.

“This amount covers school fees, research funding and living expenses of the scholarship beneficiaries.”

“The council further resolved that the research funds be paid to the universities alongside the school fees to avoid mismanagement by beneficiaries. While civil servants who are beneficiaries of the scholarship programme, be granted study leave with pay in addition to other privileges”, Okpor added.
