Barely few months after the tsunami gale of resignations that rocked the foundation and threatened the continued existence of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Imo State, the party has once again become comatose as 51 stakeholders comprising apex leaders, ward and local government chairmen have tendered their resignation and dumped the party en-masse.
This is contained in a letter dated July, 2, 2024, addressed to the State Chairman of the PDP and copied to the ward and Local Government Area Chairmen.
The letter of resignation which was signed by the apex leader of the PDP in the Ihitte Uboma Local Government Area, Prof Darlington Alaukwu and 50 others, accused the leadership of the party of high handedness, parochial self interest, inability to provide a level playing ground for all, among others.
Some political pundits who commented on the development which they described as very unfortunate, said it has finally signaled the end of the party in Imo State adding that, all these are not only linked to the exit of Chief Emeka Ihedioha but also attest to his mass acceptance, leadership and administrative prowess that united, sustained and kept the party afloat all this while”.
Prominent among the resignees are; Prof Darlington Alaukwu, the Apex Leader of the LGA and Hon. Vivian Echeruo, Hon. Jonathan Ashianu, Chief Nwoke Longinus, Nze Osuagwu Albert, Hon Nwokeke Ifeanyi, Chief Isaac Okechukwu, all are Apex Leaders in their respective wards.
