A former Commissioner in Imo State, Hon Golden Nwosu has sworn that he cannot under any circumstance endorse the state Governor Hope Uzodimma for re-election.
In a statement on Tuesday, July 18, Nwosu dissociated himself from newspaper publications in which he purportedly joined others from Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area to endorse the governor for a second term.
Nwosu stated that his signature was criminally inserted in the publications.
He therefore urged the public to disregard the endorsement carried out by people, he described as enemies of the state.
The former commissioner wondered why people would endorse the governor, a man, he said, that has created ‘panic, poverty and restiveness’ in the state.
Nwosu reiterated that he is still a staunch member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) contrary to the impression created by the elements that gave the endorsement that he had joined the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He described the PDP candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu as best in the November 11 gubernatorial race.
Nwosu threatened to sue the newspapers except they tendered apology to him within 24 hours.
His statement reads; “My attention has been drawn to newspaper advertorial published on back page of Announcer Express Newspaper of Monday July 17, 2023 and in page 3, of Nigerian Horn of Tuesday, July 18, 2023 respectively wherein my name, Hon Golden Nwosu was criminally smuggled as one of the signatories from Ohaji Egbema that purportedly endorsed Hope Uzodimma for second term in office.
“The general public should please disregard this purported inclusion of my name in such badly and unwholesome endorsement by enemies of the state, who go about endorsing a man that has created panic, poverty and restiveness in the state once their palms are greased.
“What these disgruntled elements that perpetrated this heinous act tried to achieve is to give credence to their criminal motive that I have joined APC, and as such working for their candidate.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I am a PDP card-carrying member, a stakeholder in the state and an unrepentant supporter of our party’s Governorship Candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu.
“In all my political history, I have always come open to support the best candidate whose interest is to salvage our state irrespective of where such person comes, and these attributes have been identified in Senator Anyanwu, hence my full support for him.
“In view of this, I want to give both management of these newspapers and sponsors of the misleading advertorial 24 hours to retract the said publication and apologize forthwith, or meet me in court for legal redress.”
