Hoodlums on Monday morning attacked and set ablaze a section of Ezza North Local Government Area Headquarters destroying valuable items and documents.
Chairman of the Council, Ogodo-Ali Nomeh, confirmed the incident.
He said that the hoodlums numbering over 20 persons invaded the area and set the local government store on fire.
The hoodlums were however engaged in a gun battle by security operatives, and some of the hoodlums sustained bullet wounds while escaping.
According to Ogodo, “the fire destroyed new air conditioners bought for the renovation of the Council, some documents and a generating set and some furniture.
He also stated that the community vigilante and security operatives are on the trail of the wounded hoodlums.
The Chairman expressed confidence that they will soon be arrested to answer for the crime.
When asked if he knew the reason for the attack or suspects anyone, Ogodo said,
“We are not suspecting anybody for now until we apprehend the suspects. You know the thing happened around 2am in the morning.
“We are talking with security operatives that had an encounter with the hoodlums”, he added.
