Traditional institution where it exists, survives on respect and loyalty as custodian of the peoples history, culture and civilization. It is a revered institution with leadership that can only be accessed through inheritance since creation.
Unfortunately, with time and infiltration by the undesirables in some climes, the respect enjoyed by the institution is under serious ridicule by acts of corruption, extortion and other vices that are threats to the respect and loyalty enjoyed by the institution.
In a letter of petition made available to journalists by a Group of Concerned Indigenes of Bauchi Central Senatorial Zone and signed by their spokesman Ahmed Liman, it was alleged that one of the traditional rulers within the zone who has failed to control his sexual desire despite the esteemed position he occupies within the State’s Council of Traditional rulers, is abusing the privileged position he occupies by involving himself in several sex scandals including female children of his bodyguards and other palace aides.
“In one of such exposed sex scandals, the traditional ruler was caught in-action by his own wives right inside his bedroom in the palace with a female student suspected to be from one of the tertiary institutions within the area which attracted the girl severe beating, allegedly from children of the royal father while in another episode, the royal father was caught in a sexual affair with a daughter to one of his aides (Yan Kwana) who out of anger almost raised an alarm for public attention but was begged to cover the shameful act to save the traditional institution from ridicule
“While others have forgiven the royal father for his unruly behavior of not controlling his libido, father to the girl beaten with a broken tooth could not swallow the mess.
He approached the Federal High Court in Jos to seek for justice for his brutalized daughter”.
Meanwhile, efforts are deployed by some concerned indigenes of the particular emirate to reach out to Bauchi State Governor to do the needful by cautioning the embattled traditional ruler.
Efforts to reach out to the emirate council proved abortive as several phone calls put to some aides of the embattled emir were rejected.
