Anambra State Police Command, on Friday, arrested one Ozioma Orakwe, aged 27, of Amatutu village Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, for alleged murder of one Martin Orakwe, aged 75 years, of Amatutu village Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu made this known in a statement issued to newsmen in Awka, in which he also revealed that police operatives have recovered the body of the deceased, while the suspect have also made useful statement that is helping in the ongoing investigation.
The statement reads, “The Commissioner of Police CP Echeng Echeng has admonished citizens to always seek other means of settling their differences than resorting to fighting and violence.
“The CP gave this counsel while reacting to arrest of one Ozioma Orakwe ‘F’ age 27 years on alleged murder of Martin Orakwe ‘M’ age 75 years of Amatutu village, Agulu Anaocha LGA.
“Against the report received on 2/3/2022 at 3:08pm from one Mr Sunday Orakwe of alleged suicide by the deceased, preliminary investigation reveals that the victim had a cut on his head with marks of violence all over his body.
“Additional information shows that the suspect, a relative to the deceased, had a disagreement which resulted in a fight.
“Meanwhile, police operatives have recovered the body of the deceased and the suspect have also made useful statement that is helping in the ongoing investigation. The case shall be charged to court after a conclusive investigation.”
