Ebonyi Assembly Declares 3 lawmakers’ Seat Vacant

Ebonyi State House of Assembly yesterday declared has declared three members of the PDP party seats vacant.

Speaking with the House Committee Chairman on Information, Hon Arinze Chukwu, after plenary session, said the three lawmakers seats were declared vacant by the Hon speaker, yesterday.

Arinze explained that their seats were declared vacant following a resignation letter written by the three lawmakers.

“The 3 Honourable members resigned, its the duty of the house to declare the seats. Because we cannot leave it that way. So it is now left for INEC to conduct another election in their constituencies.”

The lawmakers are; Hon Franca Okpo (Abakaliki North), Hon Victor Aleke (Ebonyi North West), and Hon Ali Kizito Okechukwu (Ishielu North).

Speaking further, Arinze Chukwu said the three lawmakers resigned to take care of some other engagements.

“They resigned on their own voluntarily. They said they are tired of serving their people, that they have other things to take care of. They want to concentrate more on it”

While reacting to the matter, the three affected lawmakers urged members of the public to disregard the purported declaration of their vacant seats.
