From Mba Nnenna, Ebonyi.

Ebonyi All Progressive Congress, (APC), on Wednesday warned the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to desist from demanding for Certificate of return from INEC to their purported governorship Candidates.

The State Chairman of APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, made this known to newsmen during a press briefing in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

Stanley Emegha described such move by the PDP as ” foolishness of the highest order”, for demanding Certificate of return from INEC for the purported candidates, for an election the nominees never participated. Because of the ruling by Abuja Federal High court, recently.

He noted that ” the Constitution of Nigeria Section 285(13) and the amended electoral laws, both 2010 and 2020, including all known cases of both Appeal and Supreme court decisions, already made it clear that ‘you cannot benefit or sue or be sued for an election you did not participate as a Candidate (s).”

Emegha further described the demand for the ‘Certificate of Return’ by the PDP for the candidates as being funny and childish on their part, adding that the opposition party has no regard for the court order.

He strongly warned the PDP to desist from deceiving herself and the general public, knowing very well that the said judgement has since been appealed, and notice of appeal/ stay of execution served on PDP.

Emegha declared that “APC, Ebonyi state will deal decisively with anyone who leaves his Facebook foolishness in the name of been nominated as a candidate and steps into Ebonyi state, to further their crisis and insecurity.”
