The Chief Whip of Anambra State House of Assembly and member representing Dunukofia Constituency in the House, Hon. Lawrence Ezeudu has resigned from his position as the Chief Whip of the House.
Hon. Ezeudu whose resignation was announced during plenary, explained that he resigned on the grounds that it is conventional for majority party in the House to hold the position of the Chief Whip, which he no longer wishes to hold, as he now belongs to the minority party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker defected to APC from the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA alongside five other members of the House in August last year, thanked the 7th Assembly for finding him worthy to serve as the Chief Whip and for supporting and cooperating with him for the seven years he held the position.
He further reiterated his commitment to delivering his legislative duties to his Dunukofia Constituency and Anambra State in general.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor who read the letter of resignation of the Chief Whip, commended the cordial working relationship that existed between him and the lawmaker, adding that he contributed so much to the unity and peace in the House.
In their remarks, the member representing Nnewi North Constituency, Hon. Smart Okafor and his Njikoka One Constituency counterpart, Hon. Timothy Ifedioramma commended Hon. Ezeudu’s courage and attitude towards the Standing Orders of House.
