With just few weeks following endorsement by the Governor of Rivers State, Barrister Nyesom Wike – who pointed to Governor Bala Mohammed as the most fit to take over the seat of Presidency after expiration of the President Muhammadu Buhari term in office in 2023 – another highly placed endorsement via the leader of ruling party, the All Progressive Congress [APC], Bola Tinubu hit the airwaves following Tinubu’s visit to President Buhari to officially inform him of his desire to contest for the position of President against the presidential elections of 2023.
Bola Tinubu – a two time [former] governor of Lagos State and a political godfather of the southwest APC – spoke on January 10, 2022 following his closed meeting with President Buhari. He informed the Nigerian public he had informed the President of his intentions. He took the opportunity to applaud the efforts of the road network in Bauchi State. He stated that Azare, one of the communities in Bauchi State had well constructed roads that impressed him. He said the newly constructed roads have reduced the road fatalities by a great measure.
Tinubu had attended the wedding of the daughter of the Federal Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu in Azare, Bauchi State – on January 6, 2022. The roads [including Sule Katagum Road] which Tinubu plied was constructed under the Bala Mohammed administration. Tinubu plied the road to reach the Mosque where the wedding took place.
Tinubu’s observation tallies with available information which indicates that the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, had constructed over 200km within the span of 2.5years – and has already began the process of constructing more roads into the rural communities and farmlands.
Ongoing road construction of Burga to Yalwan – Duguri to Yashi is 68.4km. It links Tafawa Balewa LGA and Alkaleri LGA.
Itas to Gadau road is 24.5km.
Bulkachuwa to Udubo road is 36km abandoned by Mohammed Abubakar, the former governor. Udubo to Gamawa road is 25km, a federal road being renovated by Bala Mohammed administration. It was also abandoned by Mohammed Abubakar. Bisina township road is 3.8km – its a town in Katagum senatorial zone. Sade township road is 2.8km. Sade to Akuyam town is 16.8km. Bununu township road is 2.8km.
Within the capital city – dualization of Kano road – from Awalah roundabout to airport – 22km. Dualizaion of Maiduguri road from Awalah roundabout to Bauchi university in Yuli campus – 14km. Dualization of Jos road from Total filling station in Bauchi metropolis to Dungal village about 12km. Newly constructed road commissioned by President Jonathan is 6.4km in Bauchi metropolis named after Goodluck E. Jonathan. Total renovation of Adamu Jumba road about 1km. Another road – Ibrahim bako estate road commissioned by Abubakar Atiku – and named after him – 4.8km.
Governor Bala Mohammed is currently under intense pressure to join the presidential contest as a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP]. It is expected, he may make his decision public on whether to contest.
