Passenger falls from moving tanker, dies in Anambra

Aman on Monday lost his life while five others sustained varying degrees of injury in a lone fatal crash at Agulu lake bridge in Anambra state.

The crash which occured around 4.30pm, by Nanka Agulu road involved a white Mack Trailer with registration number: ABN625YN

According to an eyewitness, the driver of the trailer loaded with bags of rice was decending the Agulu hill when he suddenly lost control following brake failure.

He said the trailer left the road and fell, throwing away the passenger on top of the trailer.

Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Adeoye Irelewuyi, confirmed the incident, attributing the cause of the crash to brake failure which led to loss of control.

He commiserated with the family of the deceased, urging motoring public to give full concentration to driving and also ensure their vehicles were in good condition before hitting the road.

He said, “A fatal Road traffic crash Occurred at Agulu lake bridge by Nanka Agulu road, today December, 13, 2021 at about 16:15hrs.

“The crash involved one vehicle, an unidentified driver of a white Mack Trailer with registration number: ABN625YN.

“6 people comprising 4male adults and 2 female adults were involved in the crash.
No injured: 5 (4 male, and 1 female)
No killed: 1 male adult (the passenger on top of the trailer).

“The injured victims were taken to St Joseph Hospital where 1 male adult was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty and the dead victim deposited at the hospital morgue.

“However, the FRSC rescue team are on ground controlling traffic to advert any other crash.”
