The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has filed a fresh suit against the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) and the Department of State Service (DSS).

The pro-Biafra leader is currently standing trial for terrorism and treasonable felony.

In the suit just filed on Monday, Kanu is seeking an order of the Federal High Court in Abuja compelling Nigeria’s secret police, DSS to allow him access to food, medical care and change of clothes as earlier granted by Justice Binta Nyako.

The suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS1585/2021 was instituted on behalf of the IPOB leader by Barrister Maxwell Chibuike Okpara, his attorney.

Kanu also applied for an order to compel the DSS to allow him to make arrangements for his food, which he is willing to pay for.

No date has been fixed for hearing of the suit.

Justice Nyako had on December 2 ordered the DSS to allow Kanu to practise his religion freely and enjoy comfort in detention.

Nyako had also ordered the DSS to let Kanu interact freely with other inmates, have a change of clothes and be given maximum comfort in their custody.
