Kinsmen of Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra state led-All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), are not satisfied with the treatment he gave to them, and are hoping on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rescue them from infrastructure deficit.

The governor’s kinsmen, at the weekend, shunned the flag-off of APGA candidate, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, at Ekwueme Square, Awka, to attend the campaign rally of the visiting PDP flag-bearer, Valentine Ozigbo.

At various campaign grounds in the state, the governor’s people complained of the laissez faire attitude of their son and governor, who is yet to sign the anti-open grazing bill into law, vowing to cast protest vote against APGA.

Ayamelum people, through their representative in the House of Representatives, Vincent Ofumelu, and his predecessor, Gabriel Onyenwife, as well as one-time council chairman, Amedu Udoji, alleged complicity of the APGA-led government in the state and All Progressives Congress (APC) to forcefully take their farmlands and give to Fulani herdsmen.

Responding, Ozigbo promised to address the infrastructure deficit in the places neglected by successive governments, if elected.

But Soludo is not touched one bit by the development, as he still believes in overwhelming victory over his rivals.

According to the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), none of his rivals is his match politically, adding that some of the candidates will get zero vote from the electorate.

However, Mrs. Mary-Callista Ozigbo has explained why she is celebrating her 48th birthday with 1,000 secondary schoolgirls from across the state.

She disclosed, in a statement at the weekend, her desire to put smiles on the faces of schoolgirls in the state; hence she shared sanitary pads to them through the VCO Foundation’s partnership with Gift-a-Pad, an initiative by Frances Ezeanyim.

The philanthropist revealed that her focus was on children of school age because of her belief that “it is the surest way to create a better future” for all.

MEANWHILE, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, has criticised APGA leadership, Soludo and his running mate, Dr. Ifeanyi Ibezim, for alleged ‘post-mortem disrespect’ to her late husband, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

The former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain said the neglect of the late Ikemba Nnewi was the reason she shunned Soludo’s campaign on Saturday in Awka.

It was observed that Ojukwu’s image was not printed on the customised uniform of APGA worn by many people at the event, though some party members also wore the old uniform bearing the image of the Eze Igbo Gburugburu.

Mrs. Ojukwu said that neglecting the Ikemba, who formed the party, was an affront and the height of opportunism and hypocrisy.

She said: “It is an irony that, today, Governor Obiano has gone back to his own vomit by resuscitating Dim Ojukwu’s pictures for use in campaigning for the coming elections in Anambra.

“Why should I permit him to keep trampling on the legacy of my late husband who put his heart and soul into this party?”
