Former Anambra state governor, Peter Obi has warned the public to avoid falling for scams being perpetuated in his name on the social media.
It was learnt some people have allegedly been defrauding Nigerians by creating Facebook accounts with the name of Mr. Obi.
One of those behind the scams announced, through one of the fake Facebook accounts, that Obi was giving out N100,000 each to interested youths to start up any business ventures of their choice.
In a statement by his aide, Valentine Obienyem, Obi dissociated himself from the “fake social media profiles”.
He said: “Let it be known to the public that I have no Facebook account… I only have a Twitter account, which is managed by someone else. You will not find me on Facebook, Instagram and the rest. If you find any profile of me on these platforms, report them to relevant authorities.”
Obi warned those using his name for fraud that the law will catch up with them soon.
