Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, has revealed the biggest agony of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who’s currently been detained by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Ejiofor said that Kanu’s greatest pain as he’s in custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, is that he is cut off from information.
“You know he is someone who feeds on information.
“So, you can imagine his agony when he has no access to the internet or newspapers. But, he understands it’s one path all great souls before him went. You don’t get freedom on a platter of gold,” he said.
The lawyer also used the opportunity to call on the Federal Government to consider allowing his client access to information.
“At least, he’s still innocent before the law. So, why treat him as if you are presuming him guilty?” Ejiofor said.
