Imo CP warns against assaulting civilians, arrests erring cops

The Commissioner of Police in Imo state, Nasiru Muhammed, has arrested some police officers who were seen in a viral video footage assaulting civilians following the crisis going on at Orlu in Imo state.

A statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Orlando Ikeokwu, disclosed that the CP condemned the inhumane treatment and assault on some yet to be identified persons at Banana junction, Orlu.

The statement said that disciplinary action had commensed against the earring cops.

The statement further stated that the CP would not tolerate any assault on any resident of the State, asking people with issues of human rights abuses to report to his office.

“The Commissioner of Police, Imo state CP Nasiru Mohammed has condemned the inhuman treatment and assault on some yet to be identified persons at Banana Junction, Orlu, by some officers of the Command, as seen in a viral video, and ordered the arrest of the officers involved in the infraction.

“The officers were seen lying five persons down on the floor, and flogging them in the process, which is unethical, unprofessional and unacceptable,” it read.

The Command  while Condemning  the actions  of the officers  wishes  to inform  the general  public that  the officers have been identified,  arrested and disciplinary actions have commenced against them accordingly.
