Nasarawa State Governor,Engr Abdullahi Alhaji. Sule has confided that the multi million naira infectious diseases control centre situated in Lafia,the State capital would soon commence full operations.
The Governor disclosed this while inspecting the project alongside with his Deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of health, The Director Public health,Dr.Ibrahim Adamu and the Chief Medical Director of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital,Dr.Ikrama Hassan.
He explained that the centre would also serve as a research centre for contagious diseases like malaria,Lassa Fever and amongst others.
The Governor hinted that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control promised to establish a molecular laboratary for other contagious ailments.
Engr.Sule buttressed that the State Government was in partnership with other organisations including the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
He further explained that the State Government is in talking terms with organizations that indicated interest to support the State in ensuring that the centre becomes fully operational for researches.
noting that the project was executed by his predecessor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, expressing satisfaction over the completion of the project.
“We have completed the projects and the surrounding including landscaping, planting of flowers, except the construction of the road leading to the centre,” the governor said.
