Human Rights Liberty Access and Peace Defenders’Foundation (HURIDE), has lauded the commissioner of Police CP John Abang and Divisional Police Officer (DPO), of 3-3 Division, in Anambra State, Addu Bawa, and his men for the rescue of nine years old girl abused by the uncle.
The rights body made the commendation when they paid courtesy call on the DPO few days ago.
The chairman of HURIDE, Dede Uzor A Uzor, who led other members of the group includes the Chairman of Campaign for Democracy CD Anambra State chapter Comrade Ekene Nbadi, Chiarman Civil Liberties Organization CLO Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme made some cash donations to offset hospital bills of the girl.
He thanked Bawa who is a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) for his humanitarian disposition and professionalism in rescuing the abused girl.
Human Rights defenders also praised the DPO for installing a multi million CCTV cameras in and outside the station which has led for easy monitoring of criminals and checkmating of criminal activities within and outside the division.
The rights group also said given this performamce,CSP Bawa has been penciled down for their human rights award.
Dede Uzor called on the parents to be wary in giving out their children to people as maid, stating the society has drastically changed negatively.
