Benue state deputy governor and chairman of the Action Committee on COVID-19, Engr Benson Abounu, has said it was wrong for people to assume that the leukaemia patient who died after a major operation was a COVID-19 patient.
Abounu told journalists at a news briefing that even as the patient tested positive three days before his death, he did not take I’ll because of Coronavirus.
Abounu maintained that so far, Benue has had 47 cases of Coronavirus and added that 26 of them were males while 21 were females.
He said 30 of them have been on admission while the rest have been discharged.
He said five health workers including three doctors that collecyt samples of patients have been. Infected, stressing that the others are ambulance drivers.
Abounu said the committee would soon recommend compulsory usage of face masks, pointing out that COVID-19 spread has reached community level.
