As condemnable as the action of some unidentified persons that wreaked havoc at the Fulani settlement at Obodogba in Okpanam community in Oshimili North Council Area of Delta State is, it is also imperative to inform that the comments of Mr. Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, the Delta Commissioner of Police on that matter lacks intelligence, diligence and professionalism. A careful study of the video clip on that incident shows that there is more to that incident.
It is quite unfortunate that the information provided by Ugoani Okpanam, the Traditional Ruler of Okpanam was completely ignored by the police. The Traditional Ruler benignly told the whole world how a foremost youth leader of the community was hacked to death by suspected Fulani herdsmen. He explained that Emeka, until his death, was the vigilantes Generalissimo of the community. According to Ugoani Okpanam, Emeka’s determination and resilience against Fulani highhandedness in the community pitched him against the herdsmen. Having resisted the Fulani arrogance in the past, they targeted him.
Shamefully, while responding to the media Mr. Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa was mute on the murder of Emeka, the youth leader; as if the only thing that matters in Nigeria is the attack on Fulani settlement at Okpanam. We want to know what happened to the youth leader of Okpanam. We want to know why police isn’t interested in investigating a murder case. It is not impossible that those who killed the Okpanam youth leader maybe behind the recent rascality exhibited by those that touched the Fulani settlement.
OCHIE Igbo is aware that there is also an intra-community crisis at Okpanam. However, the inability of the police to bring to the fore their professionalism by providing timely intelligence and investigation to the fore in time of crisis period, aggravates and muddles up issues. This is becoming very disturbing. Interestingly, COVID-19 lockdown has revealed the magnitude of irresponsibility and incompetence of the Nigeria police. From shooting innocent citizens under the pretense of enforcing lockdown to turning the whole blockage of borders into a full scale business enterprise. The irresponsibility of the Nigeria police is legendary and millennial.
It is only in Nigeria that Fulani herdsmen roam freely like sacred cows during lockdown, with total disregard to government instruction; under a global health security issue.
For one month now, Nigerians have continued to raise alarm on the incessant, premeditated and planned invasion of the Southern States by Fulani herdsmen; by shamelessly hiding in trucks and other haulage vehicles designated as essentials commodities. This level of self-debasement shows lack of self-respect and utter disregard for the dignity of the human person.
On the contrary, Igbos in North didn’t sneak into Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina or Gombe. It is disgusting that after being used in the last election which gave Buhari Pyrrhic victory in 2019, the North has no sustainable program for these children whom they have abused, debased and destroyed their future. The best they could offer them is to turn them into human weapons to other zones that are pursuing advanced developmental programs for their people. The shameless government of Buhari is busy feeding ghosts, under the School Feeding Program to the tune of 629 Million daily. This administration is indebted to the tune of 27 Trillion, yet there is no single edifying project that can be linked to this level of indebtedness. The profligacy and financial wantonness of this administration extends to the Abacha loot.
The Almajiri School Project which the Jonathan administration invested heavily in, for the de-radicalization of the young minds in the North was hurriedly disbanded and deliberately ruined by the Buhari administration. Yet, while pretending to love them more, Buhari children are in the best of schools abroad. It is this deception of the poor that will consume the North. While Northern elites continue to turn these innocent children against the Igbos, a day will come when they shall realize their true enemy. That day much surely come.
Several entreaties, implorations and pleadings have been sent to the police and other security agencies to activate their most renowned intelligence team to unearth the plot or agenda that has necessitated the random and desperate movements of Fulanis down South, to no avail.
Therefore, what the action of Mohammed Inuwa explains is that the Nigeria Police is terribly compromised beyond our contemplation and comprehension. It is abysmal that a man who was trained with tax payers’ money to serve his fatherland will be talking like a tout that took an overdose of some cheap substance.
Fellow Nigerians, here is Mr. Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, the Commissioner of Police contact numbers 08033051965, 08033333378. We urge Nigerians to call him to order to jettison the idea that the Okpanam case would be used to gain promotion. It is idiocy, daft and grand disillusionment to think that uneducated and unlettered urchins being smuggled into the South at the wee hours of the night would wipe out Ndigbo. What a pitiable thinking? If your herdsmen were as powerful as you think, why are they still wandering in the bushes? They should have been able to conquer a country and occupy it. Times have changed.
If Mohammed tries anything funny at Okpanam, he will have the entire youths of the Southeast and South-South to contend with. OCHIE Igbo doesn’t issue threats.
