Former Bauchi State Commissioner for finance and Economic Planning and a renowned philanthropist, Nura Manu-Soro, has appealed to Nigerians to continue to remain calm, law abiding, prayerful and to strictly observe all the simple health regulations issued by the federal government against the spread of the deadly corona virus in their own interest.

Speaking to our correspondent on telephone on what his Foundation intends to offer to cushion the hardship associated with the partial and total lockdowns in Bauchi state in the absence of palliatives from the state government, the philanthropist stated that with the ongoing increase in the spread of the deadly virus particularly in Bauchi state, there is an urgent need for all hands to be on deck to control the spread and called on the federal government to investigate the remote causes of several death witnessed within 30 days in Katagum Emirate before other ugly incidences are recorded that can hardly be controlled.

“My Foundation is considering how to provide immediate solutions to the problems created by the deadly virus in Bauchi state. We are considering the methodology of distributing sufficient assorted food stuffs to those in total and partial lockdown and the distribution of other forms of palliatives to cushion the hardship already in place in the state

“We appreciate and commend the efforts of the federal government towards ameliorating the sufferings of those under lockdown. As concerned indigenes of the state, we are now reaching out to other sister humanitarian organizations to partner and offer silent assistance to the less privileged under total and partial lockdown before hunger takes its toll

“Although, we are aware of the commendable efforts already put-in-place by the federal government to curtail the spread of the virus, on our part, we shall make efforts to provide palliatives to those in need as our widow’s mite support to the federal government’s efforts so that at the end of it all, the people can bounce back to normal business with confidence and vigor”.

The philanthropist further commended the patience so far exhibited by those under total and partial lockdown in the state and assured them of President Buhari’s determination to defeat the deadly virus within a short period of time.

Commenting on the suspension order placed on congregational Friday prayers and Sunday Christian service, Manu said: “As law abiding citizens, we should respect the directive of government. We should not misinterpret or misunderstand the intention. The suspension order is temporal. We should remain loyal until the situation improves when the suspension order will be lifted for good”.
