Press Release
The leadership of Enugu Youth Coalition has reacted to the alleged 48-hour notice given to herdsmen in Enugu State to vacate the Ogboli-Ohaja Community in Awgu Local Government Area of the state by members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOP on Tuesday.
In a statement released to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday night by the national coordinator of the coalition, Dr. Edwin Obune, the group said it was very unfortunate that MASSOP could issue such ill-informed altimatum to herdsmen in the state when the identity of those who allegedly attacked the 32-year Mr. Kenneth Ude on his farm was yet to be established.
Saying, it wondered how MASSOP arrived at such conclusion when the police and other relevant authorities in that part of the state are not yet through with the investigation of the matter?
The group however advised MASSOP and other related groups in the state not to take the law in to their own hands as the government is capable of dealing with the perpetrator of the alleged crime if his true identity is established.
Similarly, the coalition urged MASSOP members to avoid the temptation of been used by some desperate politicians to settle their political differences ahead of the coming Ward, Local Government and State Congresses of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state.
While calling on different groups in the state not to disturb the peace of the state, the coalition however beckoned on residents of the state to go about their normal legitimate businesses as the security of all lives and properties are guaranteed in the state.
Truly, Enugu State is in the Hands of God!
Signed:
Dr. Edwin Obune,
National Coordinator,
Enugu Youth Coalition
