Members of Importers Association of Nigeria have said they are considering a total lock down on seaports and isolate themselves from public gatherings at least for a reasonable period of time, to avoid contacting the deadly coronavirus.
Chairman, Board of Trustees Importers Association of Nigeria, Chief Gilbert Bravo Obi who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in his office yesterday in Onitsha, Anambra state, said since the virus is no respecter of any human, the best thing is to avoid it by staying indoors most of the time as instructed by the government and medical experts, as a part of the preventive measures, except when expedient.
According to Obi, “From what we read in national dailies and social media, there are accusations and counter-accusations that some countries released the virus to attack their opponents and possibly cripple their economy, but we don’t know whether it is true, a punishment from God or sign of end time”.
“Be that as it may, I am calling on all scientists and researchers in the world over to endeavor to find a vaccine as quickly as possible that will cure the virus, to avoid further spread of the deadly virus because I will never forget in a hurry how Nigeria solved the Ebola endemic disease which killed Dr. Adedavo and Mr. Sawyer of South Africa at the early stage, before it was solved”.
“I now call on Prof. Maurice Iwu to come forward with a solution to this deadly coronavirus if he has any, as publicized in the social media. It makes a lot of sense for people to boycott burial ceremonies, wedding ceremonies and other social gatherings, including markets for now until the solution is found because life has no duplicate and it will not benefit anybody to attend such gatherings and thereafter contact the disease and lose his or her life as a result of the disease”.
