The Anambra State Government has ordered the Closure of all markets in the state for 14 Days with effect from Monday, March 30,2020
The directive which was made public and signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Prof Solo Chukwulobelu pointed out that it was part of ongoing measures by state government to stop the spread of Coronavirus,
According to the statement, “ALL markets in Anambra state will be closed from Monday, 30th March, 2020 for 14 days.
“Only businesses selling food items and medicines are authorised to stay open during the closure. Such businesses should however observe social distance protocols and other coronavirus health advisory already in place in Anambra state.
“During the 14-day period also, traders should stay at home and not move about…”
The SSG stated that the directive will be reviewed at the end of the 14-day period.
He charged all traders, especially the market leaderships to strictly comply with the directive.

Members of the state’s Covid-19 Task Force, the police and other security agencies were also directed to strictly enforce the directive.
Earlier, the state government had ordered the immediate suspension of all social engagements including wedding, traditional marriage, burial, house warming, title taking and such other social ceremonies.
Traditional rulers,town union leaderships and the vigilante services have been consequently ordered to ensure strict compliance.
Most traditional rulers have therefore suspended palace activities.
