A popular philanthropies and international oil mogul, Prince Arthur Eze has doled out twenty million Naira (N20m) to the Anambra state capital city of Awka towards the development of more social services in the area.

The Ukpo-born Prince who made the donation during the special 120th birthday celebration of the oldest man in Awka, Ozo Nwibe Nwosu, urged the community to key in to the emerging trend of technological developments in the world today in the interest of the youth as future hopes.

The Prince described Awka as strategically located for sustained positive impact in the state and the nation, commended the community for being blessed with abundant quality human resources that placed them in a vantage position among comity of communities in the country.

He noted that Awka was blessed to have the young and gallant Obi Ndigwe and many other prominent successful sons and daughters in various spheres of life. He therefore urged them to close ranks and assist the popular natural ruler in developing the community.

The oil magnate who was the special guests at the 2019 birthday ceremony of Ozo Nwibe Nwosu christened “Otochalu Awka Day”, donated N20m to Obi Dr Austin Ndigwe, Eze Uzu 111, ”to assist him with the immense development projects he has embarked on in the community”.

On the tussle over the stool, Prince Eze said that its God Almighty that has the final say in ordaining kings and leaders, hence that that of Awka remains the prerogative of the people.

The Otochalu Awka, Ozo Nwibe Nwosu, who just turned 120 years old is the supreme head of the community’s leadership structure. As the administrative head, he also heads the Ozo society and the Awka Council of Kingmakers as the highest decision making bodies in the community. He enthrones and crowns the Kings.

The Secretary of the Awka Council of Kingmakers, Ozo Emmanuel CG Okechukwu described the day as a day set aside for the celebration of the oldest living Awka sage, Nwibe Nwosu; a day he renders his end-of-the- year annual report to Awka General Assembly which only him has powers to convene. He is the Supreme head of the community and he has the rare privilege of being the first ever president of the Ozo Awka, Awka General and chairman of the Awka Council of Kingmakers.

Former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Chief Keluo Molokwu commended the mammoth crowd that attended the event,  pointing out that it was testamentary to the stand of the community. He admitted that the pronouncement of the Otochalu Awka(Ozo Nwibe Nwosu) and the traditional ruler(Obi Ndigwe)were the stand of the citizens. According to him, “we have enthroned our king -Obi Dr Ndigwe. We have also gone beyond waiting for the state Governor to ordain, recognize or certify him. No, it’s the their way round. Awka people have spoken!”, he emphasized.
