Against the rising tensions in the country over the continued illegal detention of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria [IMN], El Zakzaky, the Department of Security Services [DSS] has bungled undr pressure to free the the Islamic cleric following a court ruling in Kaduna State today.
The DSS released the leader of the Islamic Movement following the Cleric’s request to travel to India for medical attention – which the court granted. The Public Relations Officer of the DSS, Dr. Peter Afunanya confirmed the released in a statement in Abuja, this evening.

DSS COMPLIES WITH COURT ORDER ON EL-ZAKZAKY
This is to inform the public that the Department of State Services (DSS) has received the order granting Ibrahim EL-ZAKZAKY leave to travel to India for medical treatment.
Consequently, the Service is liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance. Conformity with the order is in line with the Service’s avowed commitment to the Rule of Law inherent in a democracy.
