As Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulakadir of Bauchi State commences appointnent of political office holders Coalition of Bauchi State indigenous students from various tertiary institutions across the country and abroad has appealed to the Governor to appoint ex-President Student Union Government (SUG) Mohammed Aliyu Songuy to head students affairs matters of the state.
The call was made by the Chairman of the coalition Comrade Sani Ahmad and his counterpart from abroad Musa Kabir yesterday while briefing Journalists at Zaranda Hotel on the need for a qualify and experienced person to head the department of students affairs.
The Chairmen said that the ex-SUG president is experienced and qualify to handle students affairs matters, “We are solidly behind Hon Mohammed Aliyu songuy to steer the affairs of Bauchi state students as S.A students matters. He is well experience having work with late Senator Ali Wakili as Adviser and Speaker House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara as Senior Legislative Aide”.
According to him, within one year as SUG President Songuy was able to record a tremendous achievements by making him the most successful leader in the history of the ATBU SUG.
He said some of his achievements include, the establishment of library at Gubi campus to enhance the welfare of the students who resides in Gubi campus instead them coming to Yelwa campus for research and studies and the establishment of common room at Gubi campus so as to increase the students welfarism.
Others are his contribution and efforts for the establishement of medical center annex at gubernatorial campus in order to ease to – and – fro for the students who resides at Gubi campus when medical need arise and and the production of 5,000 copies of 60 leaves exercise books for students.
He said “Songuy as SUG President also facilitate the constructionon of 8 No. Tents in Yelwa, Gubi campus respectively and delineation of lectures between Yelwa and Gubi campus, insistence on the renovation of common room in Yelwa campus and now is the most beautiful common in ATBU since he left office”.
Other projeccts he executed is the mobilization of amenities for students live living in Sabon Kaura, Yelwa and the dominant of the areas through Bauchi State government which iclude, provision of transformer in Sabon Kaura, Smoothing Sabon Kaura road
and provisiin of Overhead Water Tank.
Coalition further commended the ex-president for organized Onga cooking competition, Airtel promo, You win programme, UNICEF ‘s HIV awareness and NHIS’s public awareness and Construction of road leading to the female hostel in Gubi.
Comarade Sani Ahmed said during his tenure he ensured the building of NUBASS secretariat and New brand cienna Bus from present Executive Governor of Bauchi state Senator Bala Mohammed when he was a FCT minister.
He explained that comrade Songuy have the capacity to harmonise good working relationship between the students and government.
