A widow Mrs. Blessing Emeka Ofordilie who hails from Enwugu- Ukwu and married to Mr. Emeka Ofordilie a native of Umuejiuzo Ngbago village Umueri in Anambra state has raised alarm, alleging that she is being oppressed by the Anambra State Police Command through the head of the Command’s Monitoring Unit, headed by Superintendent of Police Bernard Mama the her husband’s relations are after her life and that of her children.

Alleging that her oppression by the Anambra State Police Command was triggered by the fact that her husband died in suspicious circumstance, she accused her husband’s brothers and relations of having told her to surrender all the documents of her husband’s landed property and her children to them and re-marry another man.

Mrs. Blessing Emeka Ofordile explained that her husband married her in the year 2001 and took her to Guinea Equatorial where they lived for years before both of them agreed that she would relocate to Onitsha, Anambra State with her children.

“Having seen how I took good care of our children and all our property, my husband praised me and told me that he would perform my traditional marriage rite as a reward of my marvelous performance”.

She further stated that her husband has been visiting her until 2017 when he took her to Divine Love Church, Agu-ukwu Nri, Njikoka Local Government Area of the State and wedded her.

She also stated that her husband continued visiting her until 2018. “My husband called me and told me that he would send back his half-brother’s son (Nonso Ofodilie) home due to his not doing well. I persuaded him not to do so but he told me that even their only sister, Mrs. Ekene Ikedinma (nee Ofordilie) now divorcee had already told him to send Nonso back home”.

“I was astonished to hear that my husband has died through my brother whom a friend of my husband (Mr. Emeka Ukatu) called and informed him that the relations of my husband have looted all his belongings. I received the news after few days I engaged with my husband in voice call; they told me that my husband’s corpse was brought back home and deposited same at Apex Hospital Nkwelle Ezunaka, Oyi Council Area of Anambra State.

“When I reached there, I was not allowed to see my husband’s corpse. One lady gave me a phone number to call; when I called the number, behold it was one of the cousins brother to my husband with name Nonso who is a lawyer that picked the call and called my name. He told me that it is not possible for me to see my husband’s corpse because of security reasons.

“I was even contending that I should see the corpse to confirm whether it was my husband and before I could know what was happening, my husband relations; Chukwuemeka Ofodilie, Vincent Ofodilie, Okey Ayo and Obinna Ofodilie ordered me to surrender all documents bearing the buildings of my husband including my children to them, that I should go and marry another person hence I am still young.

“They arrested me with the Police and claimed that I was not legitimately married and my marriage certificate is forgery. I bailed myself with N30, 000 from police but still they are threatening to jail me now.  My husband’s corpse has not been buried up till now. I am calling on the Inspector General of Police and general public to come to my aid as my husband’s relative couldn’t allow me to rest, trying to eliminate my life” she cried. Part of the letter she wrote to the Inspector General of Police read thus; “Having discovered that I am on their neck over the death of my husband, the cabals ganged up, petitioned the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, stating that I am not legally married to their brother but an agent to their deceased brother. It was on this premise that SP Bernard Mama and one Inspector Uwem(IPO)swooped on, arrested, detained mer and later extorted the sum of(N30, 000. 00)Thirty Thousand Naira only from me as bail fee.

“Chukwuemeka Ofordile (my husband younger brother) )after the purported death of his elder brother, travelled to Guinea, gabbed all the documents of the property of my husband and sold almost all without considering that my husband is yet to be buried (if actually the corpse they claimed they brought home is real).

Sir, it is in the light of the above that I most humbly pray among other things that you use your good offices to direct the Assistant Inspector General of Police, (AIG) in charge of Zone 9, Umuahia to urgently investigate this matter as I and her children cannot afford to be visiting Abuja for interviews as at when due.

Sir, this my humble appeal becomes necessary following the fact that the Anambra State Police Command through the Command Monitoring Unit (CMU) headed by SP Bernard Mama had messed up the case brought before them by those oppressing me”, the widow concluded.
