Benue state Governor Samuel Ortom has stated that he is poised to deliver good governance to the Bebue people qnd as such his second tenure will neither give room for godfatherism nor accommodate wheelbarrow assistants.
Ortom stated this in government house while fielding questions from newsmen on what he will do differently in his second term to deliver good governance to the people of the safe.
247ureports recalls that after Ortom was announced winner of the 2019 governorship election, he acknowledged that mistakes were made in the past and promised to correct them in his second term.
Ortom said one of the mistakes of his first term was godfatherism. “Now more godfather.
He also disclosed that some of his assistants were chosen and dumped on him but that will not be allowed in my second tenure.
“Here, in PDP, I’m the Governor and by convention, I remain the leader of the party in the state.
The Governor who acknowledged there are party leaders he must consult, liaise and work with on issues of moving Benue forward cautioned “But we are not going to be overwhelmed by others.
He said “This is Samuel Ortom’s administration and I must be accountable and responsible for my action.
He said henceforth, “Issues of having wheelbarrow assistants is not going to exist again, where people are brought and dumped on me. I must identify the people I will work with and once they are not working according to my programmes, I will drop them.
Ortom noted that the work of governing the state is enormous saying he will need able leaders and people to support and stand with him to succeed.
According to him,this is not the time for promises but a time for action so that the Benue people will feel the real dividends of democracy.
He further charged his transition committee to come up with workable strategies to develop and move the state to greater heights.
