The South-East States Football Forum says it is praying for the quick recovery of Christian Chukwu, former Super Eagles Captain and Coach.
Chukwu, former Rangers Captain and Coach as well as current Director of Football, Rangers International FC, has been hospitalised at Nikea Specialist Hospital, Enugu, over an undisclosed illness for some weeks now.
Femi Otedola Foundation recently presented N18 million donation to Chukwu, fondly called “Chairman,” for his foreign medical trip.
The group, in its two-paged `Prayer and Get Well Message’ in Enugu on Friday, said Chukwu remained a living African football legend who needed the support and prayers of every Nigerian.
The group, in the statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), described Chukwu as one of its own and a Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) ambassador.
“We join all well-meaning Nigerians at home, Diaspora and all fans of Chukwu (MFR) to celebrate the Captain like no other alive,’’ the group stated
It appreciated Femi Otedola and Femi Otedola Foundation as well as Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for making the anticipated foreign medical trip of Chukwu possible.
It further stated: “we appreciate Gov. Ugwuanyi for shouldering the football icon’s cause.
“Our regards goes to the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick; Femi Otedola Foundation; Benson Ejindu, Patron Ex- Rangers International Association; and Management of Nikea Hospital, Enugu, for their support to Chukwu.’’
The statement was jointly signed by Amanze Uchegbulam, Chairman, Imo State Football Association and Sen. Obinna Ogba, Chairman, Ebonyi State Football Association.
