The Chairman of the Independent National Eletoral Commission [INEC], Prof. Yakubu Mamood has declared the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress [APC], Major General Mohammadu Buhari as the winner of the presidential election. Prof. Mamood made the declaration at 4.36am on Wednesday February 27, 2019 – 4 days after the close of polls.
The Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] had rejected the results and had directed the INEC to halt its declaration of results. According to the PDP, the election was massively rigged in favor of the ruling party.
