The Vice Presidential Candidate under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Jerry Chukwueke on Saturday put a diplomatic fight against insurgency and establishment of economic zones upon the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria at the heart of his bid to oversee alongside the presidential candidate, Gen. John Gbor, the affairs of this country, as official campaigning got under way for elections next year.
Loading ...Nigeria, more than ever before, needs a stable and people-focused government to move the agenda for our country forward. The problem of Nigeria is that the structure is resting on a shifting/sliding sand.
We need a government which will shift from the discussions on formula to share, to discussions on formula to manufacture.
The problem of Nigeria is the problem of a mother who is afraid to wean her child, she breastfeeds her child to old age. The effect is that the child never fight for survival, rather he forever depends on the mother.
What happens if eventually the breast milk gets drained and stops to flow, both the child and the mother perishes.
Our past and present governments have not been able to diversify our economy, we depend solely on crude oil which will someday loose relevance.
About the year 2030, automobiles will be electronically powered, crude oil will begin to loose importance, demands will reduce with subsequent fall in price.
THE BIG QUESTION IS; IN THIS SITUATION, WHAT WILL BE THE FATE OF NIGERIA AND NIGERIANS?
The APGA led government will open up the system and build a solid foundation through;
_THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ECONOMIC ZONES:_
We focus on those infrastructural, economic and developmental factors of the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
These respective zones calls the attention of the federal government cum foreign investors on the key economic factors of the zone which when harnessed and developed will economically and automatically empower the zone in a competitive way.
In the South East for instance, there wont be any need for Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi etc to spend their resources on giant projects, all they need to do is come together, save some money, get the attention and support of the federal government and foreign investors as an entity to focus on those economic activities that thrive best in the zone, be it agriculture, housing, education, commerce etc. By this Nigeria will be physically restructured and placed on a very solid foundation.
_SECURITY:_
This is very important and will be invested in to secure the lives of people, properties and economic investments in these zones.
The APGA led government knows that we are a nation who does not believe in itself and its military and by this, kills the morale of our armed forces.
Not long ago Nigeria paid for military equipments that will be delivered in the year 2023, shall we cross our hands and wait till 2023 while our people die everyday due to insurgency? HELL NO!
We shall make the commitment to bring in military contractors who shall come in with their mechanized and man power. They shall help us fight insurgency, restore peace and security, train our people and recoup our military.
_ENCOURAGEMENT AND SUPPORT FOR CATTLE RANCHING IN THE NORTH:_
The APGA led government is ready to make commitment to encourage cattle ranching in the North. We are prepared to involve the CBN to provide finances to encourage farmers who are ready to adapt, invest and build ranching in the North.
The APGA led government shall stand with farmers to ensure they have the support they need to grow the agricultural value chain. We shall make commitment for massive water irrigation in the North to reclaim our desert lands and generate more vegetative area for our cattles. This will reduce the pressure of cattle rearers coming down south and eternally put an end to the often conflict between farmers and herdsmen.
_REDUCTION IN THE COST OF GOVERNANCE BY 5%:_
The cost of maintenance for our government officials is outrageous, the APGA led government shall reduce the cost of governance by 5%, ranging from the federal to the state and local government functionaries.
The funds recovered from the reductions shall be directed to our health, housing and education sectors.
As has been the case since the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) started publishing the Human Development Index (HDI), Nigeria’s 2017 HDI statistics and the World Health Organisation’s World Health Statistics 2017, tell a woeful story about our health systems.
Nigeria must improve funding for health care and ensure that we not only retain our medical professionals but attract those in the Diaspora who left the country in search of greener pastures.
The increased funding that shall become available shall be used in improving facilities at public hospitals and schools and to enhance the remuneration of our teachers and medical personnel so as to ensure parity with their peers who have similar qualifications and experience in the western countries.
