I’m Saddened Over John Odey’s Demise – Ndoma-Egba
The Chairman, Governing Board of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, has expressed a deep sense of shock and grief over the demise of former National Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Minister of Environment and also Information and Communication, Chief John Odey.
The NDDC helmsman, in a statement made available to newsmen by his Special Assistant on Communication, Clara Braide, described the news of Odey’s death as devastating not only to him but the whole of Yala Nation, Cross River State and indeed Nigeria, at a critical period when the country needs his wealth of experience.
He said: “I am truly shocked and saddened after receiving the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing away of my brother, John Ogar Odey. Words cannot describe the sense of personal loss I fill but also the greater loss for our dear State and the Nation.
“He was a truly worthy representative of his generation who made us proud even as his best was yet to come.
“John has been a source of inspiration to all who crossed his path, he was a good friend and brother indeed and his invaluable contributions to the development of our people and the Nation cannot be overemphasized.”
“May God comfort the family he left behind, Government and people of Cross River State and Nigeria. May his wonderful soul find rest and peace,” Ndoma-Egba prayed.
The late Odey’s demise was announced on Sunday morning after he was flown out of the country for medical attention for a cancer-related ailment in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
