Eze Ndigbo Preaches Peace And Harmony At New Yam Festival In Kano

By Yakubu Salisu A, Kano

His Highness, Eze Ikechukwu Oliver Akpudo V, on Sunday in Kano, has called for peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups in the country.

He made the call during a new yam festival organized at his palace, New Road being the first of its kind in the state.
According to him, without peace and harmony, the nation cannot record any tangible progress, hence, the need for every stakeholder in the society to contribute his quarter towards peace and harmony which at the end, would bring about positive developments.

He said, “ Nigerians, must learn to love and live in peace with one another irrespective of ethnicity, religious background as well as political affiliations, and not to allow the suffering of the nation’s forefathers to be in vain”
The festival, celebrated in a colorful style had in attendance, prominent and notable personalities from across the state.

Also, Akpudo called on Igbos to disregard the call to boycott the forthcoming 2019 general elections by some groups and advise that, those who bear any form of grudge against the government, should adopt democratic means of tabling grievances rather than making such a call that could plunge the nation into further crisis.

The Festival according to the Eze was introduced in Kano to revive the Igbo culture and remind the people that they are at home no matter where they find themselves.
He called on the Igbos in the state to love one another and put aside all differences and work together as one for the development of the Ndigo community in Kano.
Oliver, also called for special prayers as the nation prepares to celebrate its 58th anniversary, October 1st 2018 that God will continue to guide the leaders and keep the nation together in peace and harmony.
