SUBEB Renovates 426 Schools In Benue

The Executive Chairman, Benue State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), Rev. Philip Tachin has disclosed that 426 school projects have been completely renovated while 229 were still under construction and rehabilitation across the state.
Tachin who made the disclosure in an interviewย with 247ureports.com in Makurdi, today, stated that 79 of those projects have been terminated.
The SUBEB boss said the school projects were constructed under the Benue State Government/UBEC Intervention Funds for the years 2012- 2015.
He further said the Benue state government under leadership of Governor Samuel Ortom on assumption of office released the sum of N3.8 billion as counterpart funding to match UBEC’s N3.8 billion.
SUBEB have also accessed the sum of N7.6 billion as marching grant for the years 2012/2015.
He said the board had procured thousands of ultra modern plastic seats, tables and computers using the counterpart fund.
“The schools renovation are spread across the 23 local government area of the state.
The SUBEB boss disclosed toย that over 50 public primary school structures have been destroyed during communal and herdsmen clashes in Benue.
He said 16,000 children were forced out of school currently taking refuge in various IDPs camps across the state.
