Civil Society Group Condemn DSS Action
The Grassroots Democratic Initiative condemn in its entirety the invasion of the National Assembly by some armed and hooded personnel of the Directorate of Security Services( DSS) claiming to be acting on “ORDER FROM ABOVE”
In a press released singed by its National Convener Comrade Razaq Oladosu. He said all men of conscience must condemn this act of invasion as most barbaric, undemocratic and most unfortunate !
The Democratic world was woken to a very rude shock on the Tuesday 7th of August 2018,with the news of some security operative condoning off the National Assembly Premises in Abuja, preventing both legislatures and civil servants from gaining entrance to the premises
This we condemn in its entirety as an affront on our nascent Democratic process and a very terrible attempt at muzzling another arm of government in a democracy as a against the tenet of the rule of law and separation of power as guaranteed by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Those behind this must be reminded that Nigerians and the whole world will be holding them responsible for their effort at truncating our hard earned democracy, through their disrespects for law and order
We make bold to say that the Nigerian people never bargained for a dictatorship that will take away rights and freedom, hence their coming out in their numbers to vote and give their mandate to this present government instead of a military junta
We are also drawing the attention of the whole world to the anomalies being perpetrated against the people by some privileged few in the corridor of Power, Most especially the Executive arms of government
The labour of our heroes, heroines and compatriots in birthing this democracy must never be taken for granted by those who were mere onlookers while the battle was hottest or those who were known to be direct enablers of the same military dictatorship of the past we fought to get here
We advise all that have any angst to seek redress in the court of law through the right process
Signed
Comrade Razaq Oladosu
