Fayemi Begs Ekiti APC Chairman, Jide Awe To Withdraw Resignation, Offers Him New Prado Jeep, N25m
Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti
State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has commenced reconciliation moves with the
outgoing State Chairman of the party, Chief Jide Awe, with a view to
getting him to change his mind on his resignation, which will take
effect from 30th June 2018.
Yesterday, Jide Awe reportedly gave notice of his resignation, citing
irreconcilable difference between him and Fayemi as main reason. He
claimed that despite his efforts, Fayemi had refused to forgive those
of us who worked for other aspirants, especially Engr. Segun Oni
during the primary election.
He said further that “he only heard in the news just like every others
that the governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Rotimi Akeredolu
donated a sum of N2.27 billion into the campaign fund, only for a
paltry sum of N20,000 to be made available to each of the 177 wards,
amounting to N35.4 million. It was this N20,000 that was used to buy
Indomie Noodles and Maggi that our party members distributed in the
wards last week.”
However, jolted by the news of Jide Awe’s resignation, Fayemi was said
to have called the new National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole
to intervene.
Source said Oshiomhole’s was able to make Awe to attend a peace
meeting with Fayemi last night in which he was promised a sum of N25
million and a brand new Prado Jeep.
The source said; “I can tell you that everything being equal, High
Chief Jide Awe will rescind his decision. He met with Oga last night
and if he gets what was promised him, he will withdraw the resignation
letter.
“Most importantly, it appears that the chairman himself was not
willing to quit. He only used the resignation as a threat to get his
due recognition and I thing he is getting that now. He should get N25
million today and a new Prado Jeep next week as official car.
“Also, other members of the State Working Committee are to get N3.5
million each before the end of the week just to assuage their
feelings.”
It should be recalled that Awe and majority of the State Working
Committee members supported Engr. Segun Oni during the party’s primary
election, causing disaffection between them and Fayemi.
